The Secretary to Delta State Government Mr. Chiedu Ebie, has again visited another collapsed building site at Abraka, Ethiope East LGA and stressed the need for builders to always ensure safety by adhering to standards.

Mr. Ebie said preliminary investigation revealed that the project was executed contrary to the approved plan as the materials used did not meet the specifications.

He said the approved plan for the uncompleted three storey building was for one storey building and wondered why the contractor did otherwise.

The SSG disclosed that the owner of the site, Chief. Efe and the site engineer, a Togolese had been arrested, adding that investigation was still on going to determine other causes for the collaps.

He said the Ethiope East council Chairman, Chief Mrs. Faith Majemite had arranged for another tractor to step up the rescue operation which according to him, was being carried out by Officials of the Red Cross society and others.

He regretted that lives were involved and noted that the remaining part of the collapsed building would be pulled down.

Speaking in an interview with some residents in the area, it was discovered that out of the ten workers on the site, four of them were trapped, two had been dug out while, efforts was still on to dig out the remaining two.

Those who spoke including the Chairman committee for Human right Comrade. Kehinde Tiger, said it was an unfortunate incident and called for the arrest of the Town Planning Official Mr. Longlife Oyibo, who noted that the construction was contrary to the approved plan but did nothing.

The SSG also visited Club 206 Hotel at Irue Avenue, off Eku Road, Abraka still owned by the said Chief. Efe and ordered that the approval papers for the building be verified as it was alleged that the Hotel structure did not also meet standard.
